It's just devine

Being a geek are a matter of state of mind !

We, the geeks, nerds, foureyes or whatever the mortal man classifies us as, can find pleasure in the simple things as well as in those more complicated, but one of the things that are remarkable about us, are our willingness to learn NEW things, always looking for ways to improve usability, make life easier or more comfortable.

Believe me, they would do that too - if they could..

Nerds enjoy life a lot, but they are still looking for ways to improve on status quo.

Okay, granted, maybe I still have a few sharp edges, and here's some possible reasons to why, my friends and family thinks I'm slightly geeky:

  • I invented (and patented) an "Pervasive, user-centric network security enabled by dynamic datagram switch and an on-demand authentication and encryption scheme through mobile intelligent data carriers".

  • I always have a machine ripped open somewhere, with the cables hanging out, undergoing repair, upgrade, modification or just serving as spareparts.
  • To make sure I can always connect everything, I have 10/100 Mbit switched Ethernet, Wireless and a GOn server.
  • All the stuff are mounted in a full-height rack (42 U), in a dedicated serverroom.
  • I operate my own NAT Firewall and secure access gateway.
  • I have a media-server to serve all UpNP devices in my home (no lost DVDs ever again).
  • I have an Xbox just for playing movies and internet radio in the TV lounge..
  • In the house are three Wireless 54G access-points, whereas one are dedicated to wireless media devices (like the Noxon, a Slimdevice, or the DSM320/RD).
  • I actually understand the point in the daily UF.
  • I have more than 7KVA of UPS power installed in my home (for the critical stuff) and a three-phase 12 KVA diesel generator backup to run the entire house off-grid, in case of a thunderstorm or prolonged outage.
  • I often find it easier to just code it than find it..
  • I developed a system to retrieve content from just about any source, just because I were too lazy to go visit all those website on a daily basis..
  • I use DLT, DDS4 and DVD for doing regular backups.
  • My dog has an ID-Chip in his neck.
  • I have a can of SPAM sitting on a shelf just above my workstation.
  • My homepage runs from a Content Management System.
  • I use so much power here that I get industrial rates.
  • I have a zero-touch installation system for automated machine installations
  • I have never met at problem or platform too complex fo me to wrap my brain around it and master it
